Have you been reading more during the COVID-19 pandemic? I know I have been.

What I’ve Read

I had the honor of working with Tiffany, and learned so much from the experience. In my case, I needed to take my understanding of point of view to a deeper level, as well as improve the pace of my story-telling. (Still working on that last one!) Now, I’ve had the honor of reading her terrific book, “Intuitive Editing,” in which she distills her years of editorial experience, gentle coaching style, and pragmatic tips into one handy book for writers of all levels. I wholeheartedly recommend this creative writing craft book! Learn more on Tiffany’s website.

What I’m Reading

Currently, I’m reading “Circe” by Madeline Miller. And talk about a fascinating point of view! This compelling masterwork reimagines the story of the titular goddess, told from her point of view, as she goes on a personal journey to finally choose her own destiny. I’m about a third of the way through, and looking forward to the rest of the journey. Learn more on Madeline’s website.

What I’m Looking Forward to Reading

I’ve enjoyed Mariah Fredericks’ first two entries in her terrific historical mystery series featuring lady’s maid Jane Prescott in Gilded Age New York City, and I’m looking forward to the third entry, “Death of an American Beauty.” Jane finally gets a break from her duties, and goes on vacation–but I’m guessing our heroine won’t have much time to relax, given Mariah’s story-telling prowess.
